Academic conference "En los márgenes de la fama. Nuevas perspectivas sobre pintores olvidados del Siglo de Oro español" (“On the Margins of Fame: New Perspectives on Forgotten Painters of the Spanish Golden Age”)

2026-03-24

The Seminario de Arte marqués de Lozoya  (Marqués de Lozoya Art Seminar) of the Fundación Universitaria Española invites you to the academic conference "En los márgenes de la fama. Nuevas perspectivas sobre pintores olvidados del Siglo de Oro español" (“On the Margins of Fame: New Perspectives on Forgotten Painters of the Spanish Golden Age”). The event will take place on Thursday 23rd April 2026, and our speakers on this occasion will be Leticia Ruiz Gómez, Mario Zamora Pérez, Sonia Casal Valencia and José Luis Cueto Martínez-Pontrémuli.
This conference aims to highlight, explore in depth and disseminate recent developments concerning traditionally overlooked artists of the Golden Age. Through the presentations by four specialists, we hope to revitalise research on these artists and encourage future events that continue to rediscover great painters who are little known today, whilst also fostering a fruitful dialogue between emerging and established researchers.
Admission is free and open to all until full capacity is reached in the FUE Auditorium (C/Alcalá, 93, Madrid). Prior registration is required using the relevant form.
For any further enquiries, please contact cai@fuesp.com

Cuadernos de Arte e Iconografía (CAI) is a periodical published by the publishing house Fundación Universitaria Española (CIF: G-28433670), a foundation registered in the Register of Foundations on 24 March 1949. It has been published since 1988 and after a period in which its publication was interrupted, it plans to resume its activity in the year 2025, starting a new era in which it will once again be published uninterruptedly, with a fixed annual periodicity.

Subject to the relevant scientific rigour, the journal uses the blind peer review system, in which specialised external personnel are in charge of evaluating the works submitted.

A new call for papers is currently open. Further information can be found in the Announcements’ section.

The rules can be consulted in the section ‘Presentation and structure of originals’, in the Submissions’ section. Compliance with these requirements facilitates their indexation in the main international databases, guaranteeing greater dissemination of the articles published and, therefore, of their authors and centers of work.
