The armed wing of the Renovatio Imperi: note on the campaigns of Belisario, by Federico Gallegos Vázquez
Abstract
Among the historians of the Law active today, few have paid as much attention to the Middle Ages, and especially to the High Middle Ages, as has done the professor Federico Gallegos Vázquez. His work has been deployed on three axes: the law and legal institutions linked to the world of the pilgrims who traveled the Camino de Santiago, the law and institutions of the Visigoth kingdom and the historical-legal study of war phenomena. These last two thematic lines overlap and converge in several of the Galician professor's publications and lead to the present work, since Belisario's campaigns is undoubtedly military history and it should not be forgotten that the chronological framework in which it takes place It is contemporary with the Visigothic kingdom of the Iberian Peninsula. It is, therefore, a monograph that fits perfectly into the previous career of its author.
