EUGENIA AND JEWELERY BEFORE AND AFTER THE EMPIRE: A STORY OF FEELINGS
Abstract
Like the splendours of imperial France, Empress Eugenie never ceased to dazzle her contemporaries by wearing splendid adornments and sumptuous jewelry. She chose them from among the Crown Jewels for ceremonies, receptions and official balls, or in her personal case for other occasions.
His collection is thus considered one of the most fabulous of the 19th century. This taste for jewelry, Eugenie had it before her accession to the throne by her marriage to Napoleon III in 1853. It will persist after the fall of the Second Empire, refocused around dynastic and family gifts.
