The concept of fusión mítica is a relevant one in Antonio Prieto’s narrative and critical work. In this article, I try to show that this idea stems from a vision of the world that gives preference to the whole over the parts and the species over the individuals (a vision that can be described as platonic). Before forging the concept of mythical fusion, this notion of reality is already reflected in the author’s first novels, written in the 1950s and 1960s, thus anticipating his mature production, corresponding to the final years of the 20th century and first years of the 21st century.
